Lessons


student3 Manchester Music Mill currently has a wide offering of private, semi-private (group) and   clinic lessons. We work with certified music teachers and have the skill, patience and attitude to teach students of all ages. We are flexible and will do what we can to accommodate your schedule. We offer lessons for:

Drum set and Percussion

Guitar (Acoustic, Electric)

Bass Guitar

Woodwind and Brass Instruments

Lessons are $20 per half hour lesson, No registration fees or long term commitments.

MEET THE TEACHERS
Nate Comp- Guitar/Bass/any instrument with strings instructor, all levels and styles.
Nate Comp grew up in Manchester, New Hampshire where he studied with John Zevos, Arthur Mirable and David Newsam.
Before joining the faculty at the Manchester Music Mill in July of 2009, Nate taught guitar and bass for the National Music Workshop at Daddy’s Junky Music for fifteen years.
He is also a former faculty member of the Guitar Gallery of New England, the National Guitar Summer Workshop, Berklee Summer Guitar Sessions and the New England Summer Arts Program at New Hampshire College. Along with teaching private lessons at the Manchester Music Mill, he is also a faculty member of the Summer Youth Music School at the University of New Hampshire and is the Director of Music Education for Optek Music Systems, makers of the Fretlight guitar.
Nate is also an active performer and can be seen playing on a regular basis in a wide variety of musical settings throughout the New England area. Over the past fifteen years he has given over 40,000 private lessons to students of all ages and abilities, and his unique teaching methods focus on developing technique, music theory knowledge, improvisational ability, composition, ear training, repertoire, and performance skills.

Matt Bowman- Guitar instructor all levels.
Matt grew up in Manchester and studied with George Westbay, Nate Comp, David Newsam and Brynn Belyea. After high school he attended the Atlanta Institute of Music in Atlanta, Georgia where he graduated with high honors.
Before joining the Manchester Music Mill faculty in July 2009, Matt taught guitar/bass for the National Music Workshop at Daddy’s in Manchester. He is also a former faculty member of the Guitar Gallery of New England. Matt has taught thousands of lessons over the last 12 years and continues to be an active performer on the local music scene with the Chad Lamarsh Band.

John Maggio- Guitar Instructor all levels
John has been playing guitar for 23 yrs and has been teaching for about 15 years. Prior to joining the Manchester Music Mill faculty in July 2009, John taught for many years with the National Music Workshop at Daddy’s in Manchester.
He’s into lots of different music from Miles Davis and Charlie Parker to Ozzy and Frank Zappa and everything in between. John is more or less self taught learning from instructional guitar video’s and many guitar books when he was a kid. He’s played in many band’s since high school and have been gigging since the age of 19.
Currently John is studying online in a Berklee guitar program to get a Master Certificate in guitar and he plays the local cover band scene with the group Last Laugh for whom whom he’s played with for about 5-6 years.
John teaches all styles of rock from classic rock to blues rock and metal.

Eric Turner- Eric Turner guitar/bass/music theory instructor for all levels.
Eric graduated Cum Laude from the University of New Hampshire where he studied jazz guitar with David Newsam and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education. Eric is a versatile musician who has played hundreds of gigs on both guitar and bass and has been performing in the New England area with local band Duty Free and as a free-lance musician since 2001.
In 2006, Duty Free was selected as the National Battle of the Bands winner and was awarded a performing slot at at Amster Jam ‘06, sharing the stage with the likes of Tom Petty and the Foo Fighters. Eric’s other performance experiences include: guitar ensemble, jazz band, jazz combos and UNH general chorus.
Eric currently teaches guitar classes and recording technology at Dover High and Middle Schools. His music education background is equally diverse as his performance background; classes and subjects that Eric has taught include: guitar ensemble, music theory, orchestra, jazz band, jazz choir, elementary string, percussion, brass and woodwind lessons, world drumming, music history, music business and recording technology. Eric plays and enjoys all styles of music.
