2001-2002 Fender '53 Re-issue CIJ Sting Reissue P-Bass Sunburst w/HSC (USED)
Up for sale is a rare '53 re-issue Sting P-Bass by Fender. The Fender ‘Sting’ Precision Bass was issued between 2001 and 2013, built in Japan and reproducing the 1953 Precision bass used by Sting on recordings and tours with The Police.
The Fender Precision Bass at this point used an Ash body paired with a solid Maple neck. The truss rod was mounted from the rear, so a Walnut ‘skunk stripe’ is visible covering the channel. The Maple neck has a clear gloss finish, and the Sting model has a Mother of Pearl block inlaid at the twelfth fret with ‘Sting’ engraved in it. Strings mount through the rear of the body, and a two-saddle bridge replicates the original design.
This bass is used with some signs of wear. There are a couple of scratches and marks on the bass, as shown. See pics for full cosmetic details.
